MY PERSPECTIVE ON THE TIMES AHEAD

As wedding suppliers and couples planning their special day, it’s wouldn’t be over the top to say that 2020 has been a definite blow to the chest.

We are an industry made up of independents, self employed creatives, small and family run businesses. We are the people who help pick the flowers, guide you during planning, advise on your outfit; we are photographers and videographers, caterers and florists, we are celebrants and dress designers, musicians and creators.

We walk beside you upto, during and after your day; we are the people who transform that vision into reality. Weddings are glorious, they are uplifting and energising; they are a moment where all that you love in every sense of the word comes together; your family and friends, you love of food or drink and preferences to music. Your day celebrates your loves and the love towards you.

Whether you’ve been planning your special day since you were a child, or have been pinning ideas for the past few months; we all had that same notion of what a modern day wedding was. It was a day above and beyond, where you got to sing and dance, laugh and embrace. It was the day you pampered and treated yourself with your friends and family, whether there were only 30 or over 200 guests.

You may want to be patient and wait until a time arises where you can have that larger gathering; and I do believe there will be a time those weddings will be given the green light to go again. And I completely get it if that’s what you want to do. When you can I’ll be ready and raring to go, camera in hand, smile across my face excited to party alongside you; however, I know there are many who have had enough of postponing, re-arranging and dealing with the stress that can bring. I know that there are some who just want to get married. Finally start that journey as partners for life; a journey they may have already waited a year or more for. And if that’s the case. If that is you. Then go for it, embrace the smaller wedding for the beauty it can be. Wear that outfit you picked out, grab those decorations you’ve had pinned on your Pinterest board, be surrounded by your closest.

Because as my beautiful friend Kate McCarthy so wonderfully wrote:

A wedding now, as I’m slowly learning, is filled with no less joy than before but now that joy is concentrated - nay crystallised - into it’s very essence.  A wedding now is simply two people and I forget the rest.”

Because at it’s core that is exactly what a wedding is, the union of two people and nothing more. A few weeks back I was fortunate to capture the smaller wedding of Tim + Sarah in Manchester; it wasn’t the Mallorca day they had planned; some Tim’s parents were missing due then being in Germany. The guest list cut to a mere 15 (including me) but that did not lessen the joy on the day; nor did it stop the fun and laughter. The jokes were still made, the celebratory drinks still drunk. Cake was eaten, speeches made and a newly wed couple. It was electric to be a part of and witness; everyone smiled like a Cheshire cat’s from start to finish because they were witnessing a wedding in its purest state.

The marriage of two people…’and I forget the rest’

Whenever you choose to say ‘I Do’ I’ll be there, ready to capture those moments and memories; join in in the laughter and antics. Thewedding industry is here for you, we want to walk beside you and help to navigate wedding planning during these turbulent times; together we are stronger.

Remember LOVE IS NOT CANCELLED.
